And with that, over to you now Megan, because we are excited to have you and can’t wait to chat with you today about one of the hottest online jobs in the market right now.

Hello Megan! Can you please introduce yourself and explain how you got started as a Pinterest VA (Virtual Assistant)?

Thank you for having me!

I graduated from college back in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Communications (marketing) and went into the corporate world for a few years.

After having my son in 2011, I started freelance marketing work from home and did that until late 2014 when I started looking into Pinterest as a marketing platform for a few of the businesses I worked for.

After having success promoting them on Pinterest, I started a deep dive!

Now, nearly 7 years later, I have 18 clients, and I have taught over 5,000 students how to use Pinterest to market their blogs and online stores. I have also taught just over 2,500 students how to start their own Pinterest Virtual Assistant business.

What is a Pinterest VA? And what does a Pinterest VA do? Can you describe your typical work day to help us have a better idea?

A Pinterest Virtual Assistant is a person who takes care of another blogger or business owner’s Pinterest account.

For example, you create and schedule pins for them, do SEO research, and you analyze their metrics and analytics to see what is and what is not working! And I assigned each one of my clients to a specific day of the week.

So I work on each client’s account once a week for about 30-60 minutes. Maybe more, depending on the account.

Who hires a Pinterest VA? Can you tell us a bit more about your clients? Which types of people do you work with and what types of businesses do they run?

Everyone!

I work for bloggers, people who own Etsy stores, and really anyone who has an online shop or website!

For instance, I have a client who owns a shoe store, a client who runs a printables shop, and a client who has a virtual interior design business. But I work for a couple of big brands as well.

Why do clients hire a Pinterest virtual assistant? From your experience, why is there such a high demand for Pinterest VA’s right now?

Pinterest is a lot more complicated than most people think.

That’s because it’s a complex search engine that entails a lot more than just pinning a pin.

And a lot of business owners and busy bloggers don’t have time to learn all of this and it can’t be done by just anyone.

You REALLY have to know how to properly use the platform, and you have to keep up with current trends and pinning strategies. Which again, most people who run a business don’t have time for it, so they outsource!

It’s also a platform that, when used properly, can drive a TON of free traffic to your website. And with COVID, businesses are relying on online marketing now more than ever!

So Pinterest VA’s are in high demand!

How much can someone just starting out make as a Pinterest VA?

It all depends on how much work you want to put in!

Sadly, I can’t find clients for you, so that also depends on your hussle and your drive to find clients!

The good part is once you get a couple of clients, the rest usually come from word of mouth.

I have had students land their first client in the first few weeks and start making money. That’s why it’s hard to give a number because it depends on how much you want to work.

Can you tell us a little more about putting a price tag on your service because I know most find it difficult to do so.

When you first start out and you are still learning you don’t charge as much.

I had packages that started around $150 a month. Once I got better and had more success, I increased my prices.

My basic packages now start at $350 a month.

I do have people reach out and not hire me as I am too expensive for them, but I don’t want a client like that anyway.

If they are saying you are overpriced then they truly don’t understand HOW MUCH WORK Pinterest is. And people who think you are too expensive usually don’t last as clients anyways.

How many hours do you work from home? We, as busy moms, are all dying to know: What is your day-to-day schedule like so that you can juggle running your business and maintaining your family life?

I work 3-4 hours a day, Monday to Friday.

Usually when my kids are at school.

When they are home, I work in the mornings before they are up and then after they go to bed.

Yes, getting up early is hard, but then I can work in peace and I am done or almost done for the day by the time they wake up!

This way I can focus on dance practices, swim meets, soccer practices, and so on!

What skills does a person need to have to be a good fit for a Pinterest VA in your opinion?

Good work ethic and a drive to succeed.

It’s not easy working for yourself.

The only way you will be successful is if you put in the work and the hours. It can be HARD! But it’s been SO worth it.

Being able to still be a stay-at-home Mom, while also making an income is everything.

We just bought a home we were able to put a TON of cash down on, simply because I am able to save a lot of the money I make. And that was a GREAT feeling.

What is the one piece of advice you could give anyone looking to start working as a Pinterest VA?

Invest in learning how the Pinterest platform works. Once you can be successful in it for yourself, you can easily help others do the same. Again, Pinterest is A LOT more than just pinning. So investing in learning how to use it properly will pay off BIG TIME! $$$

You mentioned your course “VA Ninja” on helping moms become a Pinterest VA. Can you share with us some success stories of moms who took your course?

Yes, sure, with pleasure. Check out Hina Sheikh, a stay-at-home mother of two, and a student of VA Ninja.

As a stay-at-home mom with two kids, I was looking for passive income that I could earn every month to pay off my student loan. Although I was using Pinterest for my blog to promote my posts for the last 2 years but never thought it could be turned into a full-time job or business. I was in the middle of setting up my business when I landed my first client and this was in 3 weeks after taking the course. I got my first client via Megan’s private Facebook Group that she has for her students who took her course. After that, I promoted my services on Pinterest and landed my next few clients from there. Currently, I have 4 clients that I am working with including in, beauty, lifestyle, parenting, and education niches. I work 4hrs/day from Monday to Friday and then on the weekends I work 5 hrs each. So, in total, I work 30hrs/week. Now I will continue to take more clients until I fully book myself for the next few months.”

Also, check out Nicole Allard who’s also a student of VA Ninja:

I landed my first Pinterest VA client after a few weeks by posting in Facebook Groups on the days in which I was able to and offered my services to those who were in need of help on “In Search Of” posts. At the moment I have 7 pin creation clients, 1 monthly Pinterest management client, and 1 administrative VA client… All in all, 9 clients in total!”

Cait Blakley, Pinterest VA, student of VA Ninja and Pinterest VA course bundle:

I wanted to expand my monthly income, which is why I looked to Pinterest management. And I landed my first Pinterest client less than 2 weeks after buying Megan’s course. I knew a lot about Pinterest when I started, but I also knew that the practices I had been using a few years earlier were probably pretty outdated, so I was happy to see that Megan’s Pinterest Ninja’s course was on sale about the same time I started thinking about getting into Pinterest management. I bought that and learned a lot about keywords I had never known and the current best practices for pinning. Then I saw that both courses were available, and I bought the bundle, too. It seemed like serendipity! (You can bundle the two courses here and save $75!)

Christine Cuellar, Blogger, student of VA Ninja and Pinterest VA course bundle:

“I’ve gone from being a total newb with Pinterest to being asked to manage other people’s Pinterest accounts! If you’re seriously considering a career as a Pinterest Virtual Assistant, I cannot recommend ANY resource more highly than VA Ninja!

Finally, how can our readers land their first Pinterest VA job? What steps would you recommend they take and why?

Learn how Pinterest works, because that’s SO SO Important! To do so you can check out Pinterest Ninja HERE.

Or learn how to set up your Pinterest VA business properly and legally. For that, you can check out VA Ninja HERE.

And if you’re interested in both, check out the Pinterest Ninja + VA Ninja bundle and SAVE $75 when you click here!

Lastly, when it comes to clients, Facebook groups are a GREAT way to get leads! Like I mentioned before, once you land 1-2 clients, word of mouth helps a ton and more will come your way! It will take work, but it will be SO WORTH IT!

This was great Megan, thank you very much!

  4. I had no idea there were people who did VA work just on Pinterest! What a great idea to make a career out of that and be able to stay at home with the kiddos. Pinterest really is a lot of work, and it can be time consuming if you don’t know enough about it.

    1. Yeh, there are all kinds of VA’s out there. And like you said, Pinterest takes a LOT of work so it’s great when you can get an expert to help you. If you’re interested to learn more about a VA yourself, check out this free webinar.
