Not many moms know about this but if you love Pinterest then you’re halfway there to earning a decent income with this in-demand skill.

The great thing is, that Pinterest can be a great traffic source for many bloggers and small business owners.

… most of them are time-poor, meaning they don’t have the time to grow their Pinterest traffic. Or they are lacking the know-how.

List a couple of examples if you have. If you don’t have samples or experience yet, just list your passions and promises. I started out on both platforms without experience and made thousands of dollars. 

9. Email marketing

That’s what great email marketing does.

Oh, it’s so much easier.

Gone are the days where you need expensive software like Photoshop to do graphic design.

Today, if you know how to use Canva, even the free version and you’re having fun using it, you can profit from your design skills.

Just imagine… How great would it be to design social media graphics, logos, flyers, ebook covers, Pinterest pins, or business cards all from your kitchen table without leaving the house?

Not feeling “good enough” to work as a designer? If you’re having doubts about your design skills, just remember:

Good design is subjective. 

So don’t focus on being perfect and instead find paying clients who like your designs.

PRO TIP: Bundle up your best selling designs and offer them for sale to help others save time. Or design Canva templates and sell them or sell your designs in your own Etsy shop.

How to get started:

• Canva: If you want to improve your design skills then Canva is a great source for that. They offer done-for-you templates for everything that you can use for inspiration.
• Pinterest: Pinterest is another free resource you can use to learn from top-performing pins.
• Fiverr and Upwork are great platforms to offer your skills to the world. But another source that’s free to market yourself is Facebook. Try to hang out in Facebook groups you know your target audience hangs out to and let them know about what you’re offering. 

11. Digital Marketing

Digital marketing has exploded and that trend is not going to slow down anytime soon.

That’s why learning about digital marketing is a surefire skill that can help you make a lot of money.

But what is digital marketing exactly?

Digital marketing is selling to people where they are spending most of their time – on digital devices, mobile phones, and the internet.

As a digital marketer, you help brands, bloggers, or small businesses with their online presence to either gain awareness or make sales.

Most clients will look for a specific campaign to target a specific audience. Your job would be to fill in the how. How are you going to target these people exactly? What piece of content are you going to create to market to this audience?

I used to work in marketing for over a decade and helped some of the world’s biggest brands sell a lot of products.

What most clients are lacking is the understanding of new technology or platforms, like TikTok. That’s why clients rely on “young blood” that can connect them to different audiences and the latest trends.

If you feel you could be that connection, then don’t hesitate for a second.

How to get started:

To get started, what matters more than a degree is your knowledge and understanding of either a certain platform or an audience.  

If you have no experience yet but you’re curious as to how you can help a brand then that’s a great starting point. Check out Upwork and see what people are looking for. Working as a digital marketer can be complex. So it’s best that you stick to whatever form of digital marketing you can do best. For example, if you know how to do Facebook ads, then ONLY focus on Facebook ads, not Instagram and TikTok ads. You’ll stand out more when you’re an expert at something.

12. Digital Products

Have you got something to teach? Maybe you’re really good at accounting, homeschooling, a second language, or prepping freezer meals that saves you $100 a month? Then learning how to create and sell your own digital products could be a skill worth picking up.

Because –

The great thing about creating a digital product is you only have to create it once. 

Then you can sell it over and over, on autopilot.

Think about what you could create.

And don’t worry…

People are no strangers to buying a digital product online anymore. People even buy if you’re lesser known than Oprah. As long as you solve a problem for them.

And, if you don’t have your own products yet, you can sell the products of other people as an affiliate as I showed you right at the beginning of this post.

Courses: If you want to sell your own digital product like a course then Teachable is an easy-to-use platform. You simply upload your lessons and videos and you’re got to go.

Ebooks: How to create an ebook? You can use Canva to create it and Sendowl to sell it.

Printables: If you have an idea for a Printable then check out this post on how Julie makes $1000/mo selling printables.

13. Social media marketing

How much time have you spent on your mobile phone and devices today?

30 minutes? An hour? Two..?

According to Statistica each of us spends an average of two hours and twenty-five minutes on our phones.

It’s not surprising then that most brands and companies use social media to market to people.

And that’s why learning social media marketing is a high in demand skill that can be very profitable.

What is social media marketing? Social media marketing is when you help clients market their products on social media. As a social media marketer, you need sales skills that drive conversions and make money. Whether you create Facebook ads, Instagram ads, Instagram stories, or social media posts depends on your skill set and your client’s budget.

However, if you love doing one skill over the other then you should consider niching down.

Because the more you specialize, the more of an expert you can become. 

Meaning if you know how to Facebook ads, then you want to specialize and only focus on doing Facebook ads. You’ll make 10x more money.

Or

you could work as a social media marketing virtual assistant (VA), start your own social media marketing agency, or even niche down as a graphic designer for social media graphics.

And lastly, also check out video editing and content marketing as these are 100% related skills. 

How to get started:

Looking for work on Fiverr and Upwork is an easy way to get your first client. Read 5-10 job postings and see which ones you’re drawn to most to get a sense of what people are looking for. Both platforms have helped me earn thousands of dollars by offering my services.

14. Video editing

How many videos do you think are on YouTube?

2022 data says there are over 800 million videos on YouTube with… wait for it … 1 billion videos watched per day. (source Earthweb)

So if you like creating videos, like YouTube videos, then learning how to edit videos is a future-proof skill.

Although most entrepreneurs and bloggers can edit their videos themselves, they also have one common problem.

They are time-poor.

This means that if you could do the job for them, you’ll save them time while you make money. It’s a win-win.

If you have the specific skills you can also extend your services to video production and creating video content.

How to get started:

Ironically, most successful video editors are self-taught with, you guess, YouTube videos. If you’re interested how to learn video editing then YouTube is definitely a good place to start.

Because they require “soft skills”. 

What are soft skills?

Soft skills, or people skills, are skills based on your character traits, rather than specific technical skills.

However, soft skills are not easy to learn. If they don’t come naturally to you, it will probably take a lot of hard work to learn them. However, they can also make you a lot of money as they give you an advantage over people without good soft skills.

Certainly, anyone can improve their soft skills. But you’re either born with them or not. And some people are just naturally excellent at them, without effort.

Here are some examples of soft skills:

• Patient
• Great communicator
• Empathetic
• Good coordinator
• Excellent at time management
• Team worker
• Positive attitude
• Great problem solver

Just to name a few of the most essential soft skills.

So, if this sounds like you, then why not take advantage of your natural talent and reap in the benefits of working with what you’ve already got?

Here are some of the easiest skills to learn and use your soft skills to your advantage to earn easy money.

Easy skills are based on soft skills that are skills you’re naturally born with. 

And here are some ideas of how you can make money utilizing your soft skills.

15. Project manager

Technically, you don’t need a college degree to work as a project manager. 

However, it’s the quality of your soft skills that will set you appart as an outstanding project manager people want to work with again and again.

And that’s when you can make more money.

Your ability to communicate, juggle multiple deadlines, keep the team happy, and make every team member feel special is not just a skill you can learn – it’s already in your DNA.

And if you’ve got it you know it. You already know that you enjoy spinning more than one plate at once and always try your best to deliver and geek out over making the impossible possible.

So if this sounds like you, then it’s time to cash in on your skills.

Besides your natural soft skills, you’ll also need a few other skills to handle the workflow. Those skills include knowing software like Microsoft Excel, Google Drive, and Google spreadsheets.

How to get started:

Since soft skills are harder to sell, focus on getting work experience and testimonials to build your resume. You can look at Upwork and Facebook for your first client. From there you can build your portfolio and your credibility to get more clients.

16. Data entry

Data entry jobs used to have a bit of a boring reputation. But data entry is actually far from what you might think.

As a data entry person, you enter information from paper to digital.

This could be entering customer details, updating databases, or spreadsheets from paper, and inputting them in the computer.

Many moms find entering data very therapeutic. Because it can give you a much-needed break from your busy mom life. Although data entry jobs seem easy at first they require you to focus to avoid or minimise errors.

Ideally, to work as a data entry clerk from home you need a quiet corner of the house or when your kids are asleep or at school, and a laptop.

You also need an eye for details and like to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy.

So if you enjoy typing data from paper into the computer, then this could be the perfect new skill that’s well paid for you to pick up.

According to Seek.com.au you don’t need formal qualifications to become a Data Entry Operator, however, a tertiary qualification that provides computer or administration skills can make you a stronger candidate. Clients prefer candidates with strong keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office.

17. Public speaking

You may argue that public speaking is hard.

But if it is one of your natural soft skills, then public speaking will come easy to you.

Yes, it would be very difficult to learn how to speak on stage, convey an impression that captures the audience, and be confident in your element at the same time.

Public speaking is a soft skill and one you should only take up it it comes naturally to you.

And many companies rely on public speaker to perform for them on stage.

So, if speaking comes naturally to you and you’re not afraid to entertain a large audience then use your speaking skills to make money.

18. Second language

Learning a foreign language is a great skill to learn. A new language can open new doors to jobs you couldn’t do before. You could work as an interpreter, tutor, or customer service representative.

How to get started:

Decide on the language you want to learn and why. Then you can take a language course online. Also, look for local communities in your area and start hanging out with locals. This will speed up the process of you learning a new language. You can also find communities online for example in Facebook groups.

19. Real Estate

How to get started in real estate?

There are many jobs in real estate you could do. For example, become a real estate agent, a real estate investor or a real estate Virtual Assistant (VA).

The good thing about starting as a Virtual Assistant in real estate is that, compared to becoming a real estate agent, you don’t need a license.

Most moms I know of working in real estate with no experience all started as a virtual assistant and then worked their way up from there.

It’s much easier to learn how real estate works, which roles you would enjoy, and which skills you need for it when you’ve got one foot in the door. You might even find mentors within the real estate office you work for, that can help you propel your career in real estate.

But you got to start somewhere.

20. Web designer

Web designers used to build websites using HTML code or frameworks such as ruby on rails. However, nowadays you can work as a web designer without any coding skills at all. Because popular platforms like Wix or Squarespace use drag and drop instead. And that means you can build websites by dragging and dropping the right elements in place with the click of a button.

Don’t worry if you don’t feel like the most gifted designer. Design is subjective to the viewer.

And as long as your clients are happy then that’s all that matters.

WordPress blog design is also an in-demand skill as many bloggers use WordPress to build their blogging empires.

However, WordPress is notorious for being harder to use and many bloggers find it frustrating. Some are even too scared to start a blog because they are worried that they can’t get it set up on WordPress.

And solving problems for people is how you make money.

Use Facebook or Upwork to find your first client.

It all starts with an idea.

All mobile app development starts with the same question “Wouldn’t it be nice if…?” Have you got an idea to insert here to make your life easier?

If so, you could be in with a shot.

Because the app market is so lucrative, it’s also competitive.

But despite what you might think, the biggest skill to learn is not how to build the actual app itself.

No.

The best skill to make money is knowing how to do your market research proprely so that your app solvs the right problem for people.

Just think about how proud your kiddos could be one day if you told them you developed an app… cool skill to have for sure.
