Do you want to create your own Printables and sell them on Etsy but don’t know how? Here are the 10 steps to make your own Printables and sell them on Etsy.
- Come up with an idea for the Printable you’d like to sell. Some of the most popular Printables are as simple as Calendars, Habit Trackers, Weekly Checklist, Chore Charts (my favorite), Savings Trackers, or Coloring Pages (another favorite of mine)
- Research your niche on Etsy – is it a profitable idea? Or do you need to find a new idea for your Printable?
- Once you have decided on the Printable you need to decide which software you’ll use to design it. Canva Free? Canva Pro? Adobe Indesign? Adobe Photoshop?
- Next, set up the correct dimensions for your Printable, for example, a US letter or A4.
- Add bleed and crop marks to your design so that your customers can print and cut it at home without cutting into your design.
- Use fonts and images that are labeled for “Commercial licensing” as this allows you to sell a third-party intellectual property in your Etsy shop. But always read the Terms and Conditions that come with the licensing to avoid Etsy taking your listing down or even closing your Etsy shop.
- Use pre-made templates that you customize to your own needs before selling them in your Etsy shop. Templates are great if you’re an absolute beginner or don’t have any design skills (This course offers 30+ FREE TEMPLATES for you to grab and sell and get your Printables shop up on Etsy in no time!!!)
- Export your Printable as a PDF when you’re happy with your design.
- Create different thumbnail images for the same listing to see which listing sells the best on Etsy. Aim for 10+ Etsy listings to make your shop “feel full”.
- Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Just give it a go and start by getting your first few Printables up. From there you can tweak and refine your designs.

Does that sound like a lot of steps and things you have to figure out to make your own Printables?
I hear you!
And you know why?
Because I was going through exactly the same! And today, was a bit frustrating.
Khloe, my daughter, was down for a nap and I spent two hours on my laptop trying to figure something about how to make Printables and sell them on Etsy but I couldn’t figure it out. It took up all my precious time. Do you know what I mean?
I don’t know about you….
… but I hate wasting my time spinning in circles. Especially now that I am a mom with a gazillion other things I could be doing.
And it triggered me.
Back in the day, I used to be someone who would try to do everything myself.
I mean everything.
Can you relate?
Instead of hiring someone to do it for me, I would spend HOURS on Google and YouTube trying to DIY it (just to save money because I was afraid of spending money).
I don’t want to be that person anymore.
Because, I’ve realized that my time is valuable, especially being a single stay-at-home mom. I guess that’s why now I think about it differently and if I can hire or pay someone to get me a result faster, it’s worth it for me (even though it costs money to make money).
Why am I telling you this?
The reason I mention this is that you came to read this blog post to find out how to make your own Printables and sell them on Etsy.
However, as someone, who’s tried it by myself, I can honestly say, the best way to learn how to make your own Printables is with a course, a mentor, and a community.
Why?
A course gives you ALL the crucial steps that are proven to work (or else the course wouldn’t sell) and tells you in which order you need to take them.
But not only that…
With a course, and I think this is so extremely valuable…
…you get shown ideas for Printables that are popular and sell really well – all you have to choose is decide which Printables you want to sell (and I know that was my biggest struggle).
Literally, Julie, the founder of the E-Printables course (the only one I recommend) and mom of a toddler, has taught thousands of moms EXACTLY how to do it!
This is Julie’s 2021 revenue in her Etsy shop, TheSwagElephant.
And the best part is, that the moms who are taking the course are also making money, faster!
Kristy made over $2,000 during the holidays while she wasn’t even working!
Before she took Julie’s course she had spent a few months prior creating a bunch of digital products for her Etsy shop.
If you might be thinking to yourself “Why would I invest in a course on creating and selling printables when I can just teach myself online for free?”
And you’re RIGHT!
The truth is…
You CAN find a lot of information about how to make your own Printables for free.
But as soon as you do, you might run into questions like…
”Which dimensions do I need to set up my Printable to sell?”
“What program is best for making Printables?”
“How do I save my Printable file? As a .jpg? As a .png?”
“And what about crop marks and image bleed? Do I need that and how do I add them to the Printables design …?”
Questions like this are going to slow you down.
You don’t want to find yourself stuck behind your laptop for hours, fiddling around with something you don’t have to.
I really don’t want you to start thinking that maybe making your own Printables and starting an Etsy side hustle is not for you.
And you know why?
Because 2023 is your year.
That side hustle idea? You can try it.
Those income goals you’ve had for ages? Go after it.
That work-life balance you wanted to spend more quality time with your kids? Build it.
That’s why Julie’s E-Printables course is really a shortcut to help you make sales faster.
How?

And remember how I mentioned the 30+ FREE templates? Well, you’ll receive 30+ product templates within the course that you can customize and sell in your own shop. (I am honestly so excited about these templates alone).
Instead of spending hours trying to design your first product, you can create one in 20 minutes using one of the templates.
Some of the templates in the course include:

I bolded those last two templates because I want you to see that not only do they provide you templates to create your first digital products but they also provide you drag-and-drop templates to create the listing images on Etsy too.
These templates are what will set you apart from the rest because you don’t even have to design your own Printables. These done-for-you templates are proven to sell.
I’m not surprised moms are loving this side hustle.
