Instead, customers come to Etsy to buy completely different products now, as I’ll show you next.)
Have you noticed that half of the best-selling items aren’t even physical products anymore? Those are the items in bold and those are digital files, called Printables.
Do you remember the big shift I mentioned to you earlier in this post? Well, this is it.
If you’re not crafty then this list should really excite you, because it’s full of simple creative ideas on how you can make extra money on Etsy selling something so simple as Printables.
So, why do people use Printables, and is it hard to sell Printables on Etsy?
What is Etsy?
You probably already know that Etsy is an online marketplace where you can sell unique items like handmade products, such as craft supplies, party supplies, or other popular things handmade jewelry, coffee mugs, wall art, and handmade goods. Check out my full list of best selling Ety items here.
However, did you know that some of the top sellers sell digital products such as Printables?
That means, you can start your own Etsy store selling Printables as a new seller, and potentially make good money just like the top Etsy sellers I’ll share with you below.
How much you’re making and how successful your Etsy shop is, of course, really depends on your Printable product, how well you’ve done your market research and if your product is a hit with potential buyers, and the personal touch you add to your Etsy business, Etsy SEO (search engine optimization to appeal to your target audience, your selling price and probably how much hard work you can put into your online business.
You might be wondering what Printables are so I want to give you an idea and hopefully, this will excite you as much as it excites me.
What are Printables?
Printables are digital files that people buy and print at home. And because they are so easy to print, Printables are very popular best sellers amongst Etsy shoppers right now (and that trend is growing fast, mommy!).
However, if you’re completely new to Printables and have no idea which Printables are great items to sell, especially as a new seller, then it’s a good idea you check out this FREE ebook that reveals the best selling Printables month by month you NEED to know about if you want to make money!
But to give you an idea some of the best selling Printables are:
- Printable meal planner
- Printable budget planners
- Printable Valentines Day cards
- Printable calendars
- Wedding printables
- Printable party invitations like wedding invitations, or baby showers

- Printable stickers like planner stickers

- and more!
In fact, today Printables are so popular with customers that they are among the top selling items on Etsy, can you believe it?
There is also a clear advantage for you to sell Printables over physical products. Here are three reasons why you should consider creating digital products: over handmade items:
- You can use a template (I’ll show you where to get templates from)to create your Printables rather than creating your own, which makes the design process much easier.
- There are no shipping costs, whoop whoop!
- You can sell your Printables over and over once you’ve created them.
This is why Etsy is such an easy way to earn money on the side even if you don’t have much time at hand as a busy momma.

And here are some other questions you may have:
- What can I sell on Etsy with no talent?
- Is it worth trying to sell on Etsy?
- Is Etsy a good place to sell digital downloads?
And the answer to those questions is YES! Let’s take a look at why Printables could be the answer for you to get started.
So many moms are already successfully doing it.
Like Julie.
Meet busy mom Julie who makes $1000/month selling Printables
Julie is making $1000/month from selling Printables on Etsy and you can read my interview here if you want to find out exactly how she does it.
Julie is the co-founder of Gold City Ventures and a busy mom to a two-year-old, blogger, and a former full-time office worker. That means she had no time to herself anymore which is why she wanted a side hustle that was more passive as in the “set it and forget it” sort of side hustle.
And that is when she found out about selling Printables on Etsy and decided to try it. She’s now made thousands of dollars selling Printables and her bestselling design has made her over $1700!
She loves her side hustle selling Printables on Etsy so much that she’s even put together this free eBook explaining how you can start to make some extra money from home to help you sell the hottest items per month – absolutely FREE! (But it’s only available for a limited time so get your hands on it now).
Cody has no design experience and was able to quit his job
Or take Cody for example, who’s the co-founder of Gold City Ventures Printables team.
Cody admits that he is just not creative and had never even bought a Printable before he decided to design his own.
When Julie told him about Etsy Printables, he thought there was no way he’d be any good at making and selling them.
But he gave it a try anyway since it sounded fun and now side hustling has literally transformed his life. He even quit his corporate banking job when his side hustle income started to cover the cost of his lifestyle… and since then he’s never looked back!
Then the craziest thing happened. Only a few months after opening his printables shop, he made over $800 in 7 days during Valentine’s week! He was hooked.
How do you make your own Printables without graphic design skills?
Both, Cody nor Julie had ZERO graphic design skills and they’d never even been on Etsy before starting their Printable side hustle.
And I know that if they can do it, you can too.
Don’t miss an opportunity to get in on this side hustle business while it’s still a hidden gem.
You could sell kitchen jar labels, coloring pages, cleaning binders, household organizers, stickers, you name it!
Some people make printable sales of $15 per order – it’s incredible!
How to sell digital downloads on Etsy
You can list a digital download on Etsy in the same way you list a physical product, except you upload the file your customers will receive after purchase.
Buyers can instantly download a product’s digital file after making a purchase from your Etsy shop with their credit card, Paypal, or Etsy payments.
That means you never have to deal with the headache of shipping.
Plus, you’ll only need to create your Printable once and can sell it over and over.
The best part about this Printables Etsy side hustle? It’s passive income or it certainly can become passive over time.
And lastly, since you’ll be selling digital files, you won’t have to worry about packing, or managing inventory either.
How to make money on Etsy without making anything?
You’re definitely right to wonder how much money you can make realistically for real. So I thought I share some success stories of other mommies with you, who all started off from zero and then built up their income from selling Printables.
Rachel J. makes… wait for it… 10K+ per month selling Printables in her own Etsy shop.
Rachel took the E-Printables course and shortly after took a pause to have her second child.
Only 2 years later she’s hit 20.000+ sales and made over $150K. She even quit her job and is now doing this full-time.
Imagine if you could do the same.
So, how can you earn extra money on Etsy even if you’re not a jewelry maker, artist, or interior designer, just like busy mom Rachel?
If you can use Canvas free version, then I know you’ll have no problem creating Printables, even if you don’t have any design experience. Now I want to give you my list of the 10 best-selling Printables you can sell on Etsy.
Not many people know about this list (and those who do are already making some serious cash with this side hustle).
Are you ready? Here it is.
My non crafty list of Etsy products for you, non crafty mom:
Here are the 10 best-selling things on Etsy to make money in no particular order!
- Printable Planners (like calendars or budget planners you stick on the fridge)
- Gift tags (think how pretty those presents under the tree could look with your Printable gift tags)
- Printable Party Decorations (like cake toppers, kids’ birthday party invitations)
- Seasonal Printables (like letters to Santa)
- Printable Color in Books for kids (my favorite)
- Printable Knitting Patterns (like Crochet or vintage knitting patterns)
- Printable Greeting Cards (like cute Valentine’s Day cards, funny Birthday Cards, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day cards)
- Printable Templates for small shops and businesses (like client intake forms, and Instagram story templates, )
- Wedding Printables (those templates sell massively well)
- Printable Thank You Cards for teachers (super popular)
And many many more!
And the best thing about selling Printables is that they are digital items, which means people are able to download and print them at home (or at a print shop).
After that, hundreds of customers can download the same design without any further effort on your part!
Therefore, you don’t have to:
- Physically ship items, ever.
- Create the item as if it were jewelry or clothing, which is PERFECT for you if you’re not craft.
- Buy materials like if you were making jewelry, which keeps your start up costs super low.
To create a printable template, you simply use a ready-made template like Julie’s and Cody’s course offers (which in my eyes really sets this course apart from the rest.) And Julie gets it because she’s a mommy too and a busy one! That’s why she wanted to include those templates for you because she wants to help you get them out faster.
As soon as you are done creating your templates, you can download them.
The truth is, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel if you’re selling Printables.
Simply use the templates that are already available and create your own version of them. In fact, this is exactly what Julie is encouraging her students to do and those mommy success stories I shared above that followed her advice actually run really successful shops.
Even if you use the free version of Canva (like me), you can create Printables, isn’t that cool?
What is the best place to get ready-made templates?
If you are already intrigued by the possibilities and your mind is racing about which printables you might be able to create (as mine is), then check out this FREE ebook that teaches you how to hone in on seasonal trends for the entire year so that you can start creating your printables TODAY.
In my interview with Julie Berninger, co-founder of the E-Printables course says:
“I’m personally a Mom to a toddler who is always running around and I know what limited time Moms have each day. Before I was a work-at-home Mom, I was selling on Etsy and balancing my corporate job. That’s why we include templates in the course so you can get started selling faster. Just tweak our designs to be your own and list them in your Etsy shop.”
Julie has figured out what works and she gives you 12 ready-to-use templates to generate income faster.
These templates work extremely well…
In fact, using just this ONE template, one mom is now making thousands from selling Printables each month (which blows my mind).
How much does it cost to sell on Etsy?
Etsy is a very affordable place to sell since you only pay for the item you are listing (we will look at how much the listing fees are in a moment).
Thus, Etsy doesn’t lock you into monthly plans or contracts.
The only thing you pay for is the item you’re listing.
How much does it cost to list on Etsy?
Each item that you list for sale on Etsy.com or Etsy’s mobile apps will be charged a listing fee of $0.20 USD.
How much money can you make on Etsy?
Well, what’s the amount of money you would like to make?
Because selling Printables can be a side hustle or a full-time income if that’s what you want.
Believe it or not, there are hundreds of students making thousands of dollars per month from the same template.
Like Rachel, who makes $10.000/month and was able to quit her full-time job.
So, how can you start your Etsy shop today?
Getting started
Check out my other post on How to start your Etsy shop: What you need to know that dives into all the bits and pieces you need to know but saves you the time to research it on your own.
How To Become An Etsy Seller?
Try to find something that has a low start-up cost, like Printables, does not require you to invest tons of money in materials, is time-efficient, and does not require you to be incredibly creative.
Remember, the best items are the ones that you only create once and can resell again and again (like Printables).
But how do you find top selling items on Etsy?
How To Find Best Selling Items For Etsy
1. Etsy
You can use Etsy’s search bar to find popular and best-selling items. This tool is completely free.
But if you want to know how many people search for a particular product, then you’ll need an Etsy analytics research tool. The one I’ll show you next is the one I am using. It is the best Etsy research tool I’ve found and I love it! And what’s great about this one is that you can try it for free.
2. EverBee – Find things to sell on Etsy
What I love about EverBee is that it helps you find products that already sell well! So you can find products you know are already best-sellers, without any risk.
Look at this!
This is my favorite part about EverBee.
EverBee shows you exactly how many sales and how much money other Etsy listings made so you can find products that have high revenues. You can also see how old the listing is, which I find insightful.
And, you’ll also get to see which keywords and tags you can take inspiration for your own listings.

Grow your Etsy sales by selling things people WANT
Understanding the search volume of keywords will give you an idea of what items people are looking to purchase, and therefore it’s extremely important.
For example, you can see how many people exactly search for “printable planner” or “printable calendar” over “printable birthday card” to help you decide on your next Printable.
3. eRank
eRank is the most popular Etsy SEO tool available.
Created specifically for Etsy sellers, eRank was built with a passion to help handmade businesses grow!
Personally, I’ve not used them but they do offer a free version here.
However, there is a limit to how many searches you’ll get.
One last piece of advice if you’re just starting out as a new seller.
Avoid offering custom and made-to-order items as a new seller, if you can.
Although custom-made Printables are in very high demand because they look different and are individual, they also require a lot of your time to make them.
So just imagine your kids are sick or you’re tired and still haven’t figured out dinner and now you’ve got 15 custom made orders to fulfill. Chances are your Etsy business is going to be a struggle and it might get over your head.
Therefore, you’re much better off starting with done-for-you templates for example for planners, or simple checklists that people can download and print off right after purchase.
And, once your Etsy shop is successful, you can always offer customization for your best selling Printables as well.
Closing thoughts on 10 Best Things to sell on Etsy and Make Money (Without Making Anything)
I hope that this post has given you some ideas of things to sell on Etsy, even if you’re not crafty.
And I hope you’ll find the right Printable to sell for you, so that you can work from home next to your kids, rather than being away from them (which is my main goal to help you achieve that).
Therefore, don’t miss your chance to download this ebook for FREE to find out which products sell the best to give you some ideas of Printables that are already working.
